Music Miracle once again – 2nd year students rock the campus with a new thriller

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Brilliance | Posted on 11-01-2012

Amaljyothi students and music – it seems both these entities are tightly bound to each other. The last two years, our students stole the lime light with some classic display of modern musical symphonies. The magic started with the wizard Ajith Mathew, our 2011 pass out student, was taken over by our own Haritha Balakrishnan of s6 CSE and students like Sebin (2011 batch) took it forward. Well, its time for the reign of our junior students now.

“PRANAYAMAM AGNI….” – a romantic thriller is creating new waves in Amaljyothi. The five and a half minute song was written by miss Diya Maria Varghese (S4 CE) for the 2D film soon directed by Mr. Sijo George (s4 ME). The song came into reality when Miss Anna Baby(S4 CE) and Mr. Immanuel Henry (ISS season 5) rendered their magical voices for the same. Diya herself did the music and it portrays the complex feelings of a mind deeply immersed in the feeling of love and despair. The song has succeeded in creating the feel and is expected to be a great hit. It is available in http://soundcloud.com/annass/pranayamam-agni .

These wonderful talents have proved that being engineers doesn’t mean that we have to be stuck in between machines, wires, bricks and codes. God given talents must be realized and must be cherished. Music is one such language that has got no boundaries. It will be understood by the entire nature. We wish all the very best for our brothers and sisters who have come up with this beauty. May God bless them all.

Amalites becoming familiar through national dailies…

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Brilliance | Posted on 27-10-2011

Things are changing in amaljyothi… Not only in appearance, but also in performance. There was a time when students believed, that there could be only one in a thousand who are of the likes of avinash prabhakar and john patteri… Well, with IEDC, it seems we are producing the likes of avinash prabhakars every minute..

The 2011 pass out, Mr. Libin Varghese, Mr Adarsh and their team are once again in the news. This time its with a brand new product “E-Diagnoser” -  the electronic wrist watch that can measure ECG, pressure and other health parameters. Amazingly they have manufactured it at just for Rs 20,000. These stars were there in the news when they went across the nation, over various places with their “temple security system”. Even after they have left, their glory remain in the campus. All the very best for them for their future.

Techtop – Amalites sweep the board

One of the most prestigious project contests, The Techtop, conducted by the Technopark Trivandrum has announced its results for the current year and amalites once again showed their caliber. The Low Cost Pepper Separator developed by our students M S STEVE,ARUN THOMAS,BRONIN CYRIAC , JISHNU R & SHAH P ISMAIL of mechanical dept  received a cash prize of Rs. I Lakh. Another project named ‘Helioped’ also received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 as a consolation. The news hit the college, late, on Friday and it has made the entire college happy.

This once again proves that we cannot be challenged in the field of technical excellence by any of the nearby colleges and it shows the depth of dedication shown by our faculties and students. The machine tools lab staff and others especially Mr. Balachandran, Mr. Stephen George, Mr. Ajosh Abraham, Mr. Sabin Simon, Prof. Sherin Sam, Dr. Jippu Jacob, Prof. Satheesh Kumar and Dr.James Jacob deserve the appreciation.

Since the creation of an R&D section, the students have been doing wonderful works that brought glory to the college. In the past, the Technopark showed very keen interest to recognize the works done by our students. We had won this coveted prize many times and because of this continuous performance, the technopark officials gave permission to submit our ideas for funding from the “microtep” on an year round basis. With the current win, let us hope that our relationship with the technopark will reach new levels and amalites can outsource many R&D projects

Record Breaking Performance in University Exams

Posted by admin | Posted in Campus Brilliance, Campus Daily | Posted on 31-07-2011

MG University announced its results for the 8th semester exams and two of our students plus one faculty bagged ranks in various streams. Mr. Jilt Sebastian and Mr. Afsal A Kareem are amongst the rank holders in Electronics & Communication and the Mechanical streams respectively. One of the newly joined faculty in the civil engineering department ,Ms. Minnu Tommichen, has also secured a rank. She studied in MACE, kothamangalam.

The 2011 batch students did a great job in the exams and this result will surely give further advancement in their careers. CSE department topped the results with a pass percentage of 98.5, which is the best in the college history. Also it is the first time that we are having these many ranks in the university exams. The results of all other semesters are ready and unofficial news claims that they will be out by the mid of august. S6 results is said to come on the 13th of august. Let us hope that the college will get more rank holders.

Mechanical students with a new “coin sorter”

Have you ever wondered how these officials count the immense amount of wealth of our teamples and other religious places. The famous “sree padmanabha swami” temple got into the news recently due to its immense treasure and officials have counted upto  90000 crores worth treasure till now. It is very difficult to have this process done manually and at places like sabarimala, thiruppathy, guruvayoor etc it gets worse. But, it seems the mechanical students have an answer for it.

“BREAK THROUGH” performance

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Brilliance | Posted on 22-06-2011

The “four year turning point” students of amaljyothi, known as the 4TP students, had an awesome week right after the university examination. The semester meet of turning point allowed the students to have some near death experience that they will never forget, during their adventure training activities. The 3 day adventure training given by the outbound training centre at LEAD College of management, dhoni, palakkad – named as “BREAK THROUGH”, was largely managed by the MBA students of LEAD.

About 20 students of the new s7 participated in this event. Aby Paul(ME), Vinod Joshy(EC), Sam Joseph(EC), Jomon(EC), Alexander J Cyriac(EC), George Emmanuel(EEE), Justin Mathew Thomas (EEE), Saran S Nair(CSE), Stephy Elizabeth Mathew(IT), Kavita Menon(CSE),Dona Meril Williams(CSE),Ida Susan George(CSE), Anu Varghese(EEE), Sanija(EEE), Geenu(EEE), Deunia Susan(EC), Pratibha Elsa(EC), Rosu Jacob(EC) were the students who got this amazing opportunity. These students have been doing the turning point program since their first year of B-tech.

The camp started on the 13th of june, at about 7.00 pm. Students from 5 colleges other that amaljyothi were also there to take part in the camp. The original camp was scheduled to have 3 days of adventure training and 3 days of aptitude training. The students were divided into four different groups. The camp started off with a small game that tested the coordination between members and communication of ideas. Night sessions that went upto 1.30 am tested the physical and mental fitness of the students. In the rainy night no one got tired and everyone was eager to prove their metal. The Rope climbing activities that seemed extremely difficult was completed in a flash by many. Each risky foot step that the students took, covered the danger and at least for an hour they all their heart in their mouth. The students of LEAD, who guided the turning point students, also arranged some other activities like gliding overhead across the buildings etc.

The second day was really tough. Some of the hardest sporting activities like mountaineering was done on this day. The dhoni hills of palakkad, is very steep, huge and due to the continuous rain, the entire mountain range has become slippery. A wrong footstep taken will even cause your death . The most common three-point method, used by the professional mountaineers was demonstrated and students were asked to repeat the same. It was just a practice, to get a feel of the mountain, intended for the events that followed. Next the students had to cover a vertical mountain of about 30-40 meter height, by using the sideways raveling or the backside raveling. Safety precautions were there but cuts and wounds cannot be avoided in such sports. A nearby cave was explored by the students, which was formed by the rapid rock movements, occurred probably millions of years ago. Before the journey to the mountains, each team was given certain amount of food and water resources. So they learned the effective use of resources that also includes one’s own energy.

The third day students had something to do with air rifles. You won’t get anything better than a gun, in order to learn, how to aim your target. Three shots were allowed to each and a target was kept at a distance of about 20 meters. Many students who had gifted eyesight, even dared to challenge abhinav bindra by locking their target and shooting them correctly on all the occasions. Straight after testing their shooting skills, the students rushed towards a nearby pond for having some games there. They enjoyed their last sessions completely and at about 5.30 pm on 15th the adventure program got over.

Next two days, the students had aptitude sessions and with regard to the upcoming placement activities more training sessions on this will be given to the students. Mr. Thomas George K, the chairman of LEAD and founder of turning point was present at the college when the camp started and for all the remaining sessions Miss Bindhu Ann Thomas and Mr Arun, faculties of LEAD and student mentors were there. In view of the university lab exams of many students, the camp had to be dismissed one day earlier and therefore the students left on 18th morning. It was an amazing semester meet and the fact that they have one more year of training in turning point make the students extremely happy.

The new ‘Ricky Martin’s'….

Posted by admin | Posted in Campus Brilliance | Posted on 04-03-2011

Amaljyothi has produced some wonders. Some of the greatest innovative minds in the engineering field are all AJCE products. But the recent trend shows that, mere technical excellence is not sufficient at least to make you a better person. Developing individual skills has an equal importance. Without developing the God given powers, there is no point in mugging up the syllabus and acquiring a  degree . This is the prime most reason, why the college supports those genuine talents.

Music is considered as the soul of life. Indeed.. it is the soul of life. Its power is immaculate and no one can ever raise an objection against it. It was believed that only girls could posses that magical power to soothe the hearts of many…that sweet voice which adds to the beauty of the song. But two young mozarts have dared to correct that false belief. They have proved that music is the language of universe.

This years ARENA, gave amaljyothi, two of its biggest prides in the form of SEBIN(s8 IT) and STEPHEN(s8 ECE). The theme song of arena which was released last month showcased these two talents. When the champions sizzled at the basket ball court, the crowd danced to their voice. It seems even shakira, who produced the WAKA WAKA…, wouldn’t have enjoyed such a joy. The entire team of ARENA deserves a lot of appreciation for bringing out such a theme song. The producer  PRATAP(s6 EC) and the lyricist TINA MARIA(s6 CSE) deserves it too. Any way the students have got their own ricky martin or sonu nigam. Let them come up with  more beautiful lines and lets  dance to their voices…

PHOTOSHOP can’t cheat you now – new technique to detect the adulteration

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Brilliance | Posted on 29-11-2010

Did any one cheat you showing an adulterated photo??? Well no need to worry now. The young and imaginative brain of an amalite have devised a new technique to detect whether an image has been manipulated using the photoshop and incorporated it in the website. Ajith Mathew, from s7 CSE, who moulded this new idea, is being appreciated by everyone for this outstanding work.

Its hard to find out which is an original photo and which is an edited photo. The main reason behind this is the availability of some of the super  photo editing softwares like Adobe Photoshop. So, if you want to know whether your photo has been edited or not using Adobe Photoshop, it is very easy now! Just upload your piture in www.isedited.com and it will tell you whether your photo is an output version of Photoshop. The calculations are based of whether the photo has been exported using photoshop or not.
Such a technology was much awaited as this field has very much relevance in our current scenario. Image manipulations and adulterations are so common now a days. This is being used widely for manipulating evidences so on and so forth. Eventhough Photoshop and associated softwares are widely appreciated by proffessional designers, when put in wrong hands they can even turn into life ending tools. To avoid such malpractises Ajith’s new method will be greatly helpfull. A modification of this technique can be used by the forensics and other allied organizations. Ajith Mathew is well known in the college for his amazing academic and non academic performances. So lets whole heartedly encourage this young prodigy to create more and more for the country and the college
