The real “AMALJYOTHI” turned 60

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Daily | Posted on 14-02-2012

“At the right most end of the resource block, right next to the chapel, there is a small room… A smiling face in white priestly cloak would welcome you and people from outside call him The Principal of Amal Jyothi. For us HE IS AMALJYOTHI” – these were the words used by our comperes to describe Rev. Dr. Jose Kannampuzha during Azure 2012. True to the words, he is our light, he is our guide and he is our pride. Our dear Jose Achan turned 60 , the real Amal Jyothi turned 60.

60 years of life has given him a lot of names from various fields. He is he only priest to head an engineering institution in Kerala and his voice would shake any walls. Behind the success of any great institution, there will be the presence of a great visionary. It is under the leadership of Fr. Jose that we achieved so much in such a short span of time. We must call this as ‘the reign of Fr. Jose’. Jose achan was instrumental in the start up of many things. For some years he headed the Jeevan TV. Former students of NSS College Palakkad still remember him for routing their lives into glory. He played a key role in starting the student training program known as the TURNING POINT.

The list of adjectives and achievements will never end when we start to speak about this living legend. He will speak louder than anyone else and his actions speak louder than those words. In our heart, along with the pictures of Lord Jesus and Lord Krishna, we have his picture too. Let the Almighty bestow all his blessings upon him. Its late but still Happy Birth day dear Jose Acha.

“Let your questions be direct” – says Murthy

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Daily | Posted on 09-02-2012

narayanmurthy at amaljyothiThe Malayala manorama Mastermind contest came to a glorious end here on 8th of February. Amaljyothi raised and stood on her feet to bow before the legendary entrepreneur and founder of IT giant INFOSYS, Padma Vibhushan Dr. N R Narayana Murthy. We would like to call it a day when the young scientists from various schools and colleges were honored by the great man himself. Mr. Murthy was here for almost two and a half hours along with the Mr. Jacob Mathew, the executive editor of Malayala Manorama.

The guests arrived here at amaljyothi at around 10.15 in the morning and had a brief discussion with the principal, deans and the students. It was indeed a shock for all of us, watching the enthusiasm and vigor of him. Instead of just listening to the presentations of the college and the students, he showed extreme interest in knowing the details and giving necessary guidance. Mr. Murthy insisted the college authorities and the students to utilize our strength properly. According to him, engineers are bound answer problems that require a technological solution. A transformation from technical education to technological education is needed and Mr. Murthy himself explained how he was taught by the teachers of his time. He remembered that out of the 13 companies that started along with them, only Infosys made it this further. Mr. Murthy said that the secret behind his success was nothing but the right combination of strategy, human power and technology. He advised the young engineers of amaljyothi, that a product or service becomes valuable only when people are willing to pay for it.

The prize distribution ceremony was blessed by the presence of Mr. G Vijaya Raghavan, the chief of mastermind jury panel and Mr. mathews varghese, associate editor of Mamalyala Manorama. Mr Jacob Mathew and Mr Narayana murthy addressed the gathering. After the prize distribution ceremony, he found some time to take part in a small interactive session with the students and participants. He appreciated the students for being direct. Due to lack of time he could answer only some of the questions. Mr. Murthy’s comments will definitely motivate the future entrepreneurs of our college as well as others. His passion for his work was evident from his speech and there is no wonder how Infosys climbed up the ladder to become one of the best companies in the world. It was indeed a great honor to share the same soil with such an iconic figure and we are eagerly waiting for the next year’s Mastermind contest.

Hello Guys,

Okay!! this is the 6th time that i am erasing everything that i wrote and restarted from the beginning.
So, i will just cut the whole philosophical talk and come straight to the point.

Till early 2009, the college magazine was just a dream. But on the 13th of March, 2009.. the college could proudly say that “we have a magazine”. But that was just the beginning.
As someone who had the chance to work closely with all the three previous versions of Page33 , I hope this version will be much, much better than the previous ones. And all the best to the new team.

Just one advice: BE CRAZY WITH IDEAS

Cheers!!!

PS: for people still wondering what page33 means..and why its used.. go to our library.. find page33 (2010).. you would find the answer some where between pg 32 and 34.. ;)

College magazine – urgently requires talented new faces

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Daily | Posted on 04-02-2012

The fourth edition of our college magazine, “PAGE 33” is about to have its new editorial board. Students and their parents gave great response for the previous versions and every year the editorial board has strived to make it better and better. Last year’s PAGE 33 was a mega edition that was published as part of the college’s decennial celebrations. This year the aim is therefore not in adding up the size but to come with a meaningful edition of PAGE 33.

As engineers we have great commitment towards the society and we wish to show it through our magazine. A separate socially oriented booklet will be issued this time along with the regular magazine. A relevant social theme will be selected and it will be given a different treatment. We believe that a writer’s pen or an artist’s brush should speak for him and in fact fight for him. The new editorial board is therefore looking for new talents from the 2nd and 3rd year students. Self motivated students possessing excellent writing skills or designing/artistic/photographic skills or creative ideas are welcome and we would like to groom them for the coming editions of PAGE 33. People from both domain, ENGLISH and MALAYALAM will be given equal priority. If the candidates are ready to bring their previous work, then it would be of great use for us.

Time is a great constraint for us. Interested students are requested to contact on or before Monday, the 6th of February. College magazine is seen as the reflection of creative geniuses in a campus. It is the duty of all the students to make it a huge success. We request the cooperation of all. May GOD bless us all to show our talents well.

HAIL AZURE

Posted by baadshah | Posted in Campus Daily | Posted on 01-02-2012

A month is over so is the festival of festivals – AZURE 2012. When the entire celebrations got over with “Choreo Night” and “DJ”, everyone was in the midst of a heaven. 4 days have passed and yet no one is ready to believe that it is over. The dream of all the final year B-tech students was transferred to the entire amalites and for three days there was nothing except the color of that clear blue sky. Thousands came and thousands went, still we roar for it – HAIL AZURE

Almost 50 events were there from technical, cultural and management side and it is a collective effort from everyone’s side that we were able to present it in a wonderful way. Lot of troubles struck the crew all along the way but before their determination and oneness, fate has nothing to do except getting away from their way. Sailing against the flow – that is what the core committee and the supporting crew did here. The technical events started on 26th morning. May be because of the public holiday, the registration was not as expected. Those who registered through the website didn’t turn up. It was a moment that we all feared but almighty came for our aid. By the afternoon we got a satisfactory number. The delay incurred due to this whole process had to be made up and the event coordinators had no other choice other than to run for their respective events. Prelims of many technical events were earlier scheduled at 9:30 am and later due to this havoc had to be re scheduled to 11:30 or even later. Certain events were at the verge of cancellation due to initial low rate of external registration. Earlier the core committee had made up a decision that they would slash down the prize money if a particular event has not got the required number of participants.  However no such decisions were made on 26th. The inaugural ceremony started at about 3:30 pm. Renowned music director Mr. Sharreth and Minister for labour Mr. Shibu Baby John addressed the gathering.

The AZURE crew got their second strike at their back when the news of the demise of our Governor came. All the cultural events of 27th got postponed to 28th and therefore the situation became a little worse. Participants were informed about the change and they were really kind to corporate with us. Main stage, which was the most beautiful one in the history of AZURE, had to be left vacant on 27th. Some general events that were spread across 2 days were cut short and we managed to utilize the main stage well. Coordinators had a tough time in managing the judges and the participants. HACKTRACK, the workshop on ETHICAL HACKING by IIT Bombay was not much affected by these and we got a record number of participants.

Revenue minister Mr. Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan couldn’t attend the function because of the great tragedy happened. Cine artist, Ms. Mithra Kurian, was there to enjoy the show and we believe that she had a great time with the students. Closing ceremony was followed by the choreo night and the DJ and the entire crowd stood on their feet. Till that time we didn’t know that our students perform better than any pro shows done by Indian musicians. Due to the shortage of time many programs had to be called off and some students really have their grievances. We hope that they all will understand our situation and we are really thankful for their support. Many first year and second year students were there as volunteers. The main event coordinators had offered them grand treat. Our juniors are our brothers and sisters and we want them to be ready for this 2 or 3 years after our turn is over. The following were the main crew behind the success of AZURE 2012.

Staff Advisor – Prof. Robins Anto, Technical faculty advisor – Mr. Anu Braham Mathew, Shijas A Vaarikkattu – GC, Linomon Joseph – President, K R Abhilash – convener , Vice president – Chinnu Joseph, Albin K Johny – Secretary , Joint Secretary – Emil Maria, Jijo K Jose – Technical event coordinator, Abin Sebastian – Cultural event coordinator, Sumod Tom Philip, Jithinmon Rajan Philip – Marketing managers , Treasurer – lalet Scaria, Roshan E E, Jithin James – Technical coordinator, Web administration and design – Josekutti Abraham, Catch 22 and design – jilson Thomas, Design administration and design – Nithin Chandy.

The list is not at all complete and we have not left any one’s name intentionally. On behalf of all those who were on and off the screen of AZURE 2012, we thank all the final years and all the other students for being with us. Thank you all and let us hope that azure 2013 becomes a greater hit.
