If you are able to send a robot to the moon, which is privately funded and if you are the first one to do that, you will get it all. A total of $30 million in prizes are available to the first privately funded teams to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon and have that robot travel 500 meters over the lunar surface and send images and data back to the Earth. Teams must be at least 90% privately funded, though commercially reasonable sales to government customers are allowed without limit. Do not lose your heart just by hearing moon and robot. If we are able to send a robot deep down the earth to rescue children, then definitely we will be able to do this also. The only thing required is strenuous and focused effort as a team. If we are able to do it, then it will be a history. Whoever does that, will be remembered for a very long time. Do not wait for too long. The competition will end on December 1^st 2013. You have exactly 732 days to accomplish the mission. I sincerely wish, if some of my college mates could achieve that. The world renowned organization IBM is coming up with the brand new edition of THE GREAT MIND CHALLENGE (TGMC 2011). This year, the IBM expects a participation from more than two lakh people from all over India. Fabulous prizes like LENOVO LAPTOPS, LENOVO NOTEBOOKS, IPADS and internationally recognized certificates await the participants.

        The TGMC is a Nation-wide Software Development contest conducted by the IBM Academic initiative team. The contest focuses on enabling technical institutes to nurture and groom students to become part of a competitive work force by arming them with market ready skills. Despite being a software development contest, this is open to all branches including CS/IT/EC/EEE/ME/MCA/Mtech etc. Any one who has the most basic knowledge of programming can become a hero in this contest. Initially, a project abstract need to be submitted. A detailed SRS(software Requirement Specification) can be submitted later. All the prescribed IBM softwares, manuals, helps, are available at the dept of CSE. For initial stages, these are not needed.

2. If more number of teams are getting registered, we can have an IBM center of excellence in AJCE that will enable us to get the topmost IBM certification.

Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of multi-robot systems which consist of large numbers of simple physical robots.  Swarm Robotics is a technological advancement in Mobile Robotics.  The  main  focus  of  this  workshop  is  to  introduce  to  the  students  various  methods  of  communication that can be used to transfer data between multiple machines.
This approach emerged on the field of artificial swarm intelligence, as well as the biological studies of insects, ants and other fields in nature, where swarm behaviour occurs. The swarm behaviour involves constant change of individuals in cooperation with others, as well as the behaviour of the whole group.  A key-component is the communication between the members of the group that build a system of constant feedback. The model of distributed computing — using many computers to work on a single large task — is somewhat similar. Unlike distributed computing, however, each individual in swarm robotics deals with unique stimuli.
Potential applications for swarm robotics include tasks that demand for miniaturization (nanorobotics, microbotics), like distributed sensing tasks in micro machinery or the human body. On the other hand swarm robotics can be suited to tasks that demand cheap designs, for instance mining tasks or agricultural foraging tasks.
What we deal in the workshop are:
    Artificial intelligence
    Short and long range wireless communication
    Sensor network
    Mechanical structure analysis and design
    Making a line follower robot and grid solving robot
    Communicating a robot with a PC, through radio frequency
    Implementation of swarm intelligence
Students can participate as a team of three and each team will be provided with a takeaway robo kit. The students will have to pay a registration fee of Rs 1400 per head. We will be providing an advanced Swarm Robotics Kit for each team and you can take away the kit after workshop.

The workshop is for 2 consecutive days, 28th and 29th of January, 2011.
