The much awaited and most expected happened today..The Blogging club [BLUB] becomes a real part of the Amal Jytohi College of Engineering by taking its wings full fledged under the department of Computer Science and Engineering..I am sure it will come out with flying colours with the chief mentor being Prof. Manoj T. Joy, and Asst. Prof. Santhosh Kumar G. S. and Ms. Anju as other mentors.

After the lunch break, BLUB kicked off its journey, when everyone were thinking of taking a nap. To our great surprise, the young ‘blubbers’ showed great enthusiasm and interest. The entire Blog Team is happy with bringing forth a unique group with great energy, similar thoughts and vast creativity. Mr. Karthik M. ,the blog admin, is being selected as the President, Miss. Teena Maria as the Vice president, Mr. Sebin Jose as the Treasure, Mr. Anish Mani as the Secretary and Mr. Thomaskutty as the Joint Secretary. The blubbers came up with fuming flames of ideas. We called it a day with setting up concrete targets….Bye for now..

A new cafeteria has been started in the department of CSE for the faculty members. A well furnished area were atmost six persons can sit at the same time, has almost all the facilities of a mini restaurant. Its only when the department purchased a new refrigerator that the world came to know about this news. The faculty members whole heartedly welcomed this new decision

The newly started cafeteria
The students believe that the faculties, who were extremely kind to them, will definitely extend the benefits of the cafeteria to the them also. Currently, the system may be such that, the faculties may have to pay for the items being taken from there. If such a cafeteria was there for the students (if possible in every class), it would be so helpful. For time being lets hope for the best. All the very best for this new venture.

Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of multi-robot systems which consist of large numbers of simple physical robots. Swarm Robotics is a technological advancement in Mobile Robotics. The main focus of this workshop is to introduce to the students various methods of communication that can be used to transfer data between multiple machines.
This approach emerged on the field of artificial swarm intelligence, as well as the biological studies of insects, ants and other fields in nature, where swarm behaviour occurs. The swarm behaviour involves constant change of individuals in cooperation with others, as well as the behaviour of the whole group. A key-component is the communication between the members of the group that build a system of constant feedback. The model of distributed computing — using many computers to work on a single large task — is somewhat similar. Unlike distributed computing, however, each individual in swarm robotics deals with unique stimuli.
Potential applications for swarm robotics include tasks that demand for miniaturization (nanorobotics, microbotics), like distributed sensing tasks in micro machinery or the human body. On the other hand swarm robotics can be suited to tasks that demand cheap designs, for instance mining tasks or agricultural foraging tasks.
What we deal in the workshop are:
Artificial intelligence
Short and long range wireless communication
Sensor network
Mechanical structure analysis and design
Making a line follower robot and grid solving robot
Communicating a robot with a PC, through radio frequency
Implementation of swarm intelligence
Students can participate as a team of three and each team will be provided with a takeaway robo kit. The students will have to pay a registration fee of Rs 1400 per head. We will be providing an advanced Swarm Robotics Kit for each team and you can take away the kit after workshop.
Duration:
The workshop is for 2 consecutive days, 28th and 29th of January, 2011.
Accommodation:
Accommodation is available for ladies and gents in hostels run by catholic nuns and priests on prior re quest.
