Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of multi-robot systems which consist of large numbers of simple physical robots.  Swarm Robotics is a technological advancement in Mobile Robotics.  The  main  focus  of  this  workshop  is  to  introduce  to  the  students  various  methods  of  communication that can be used to transfer data between multiple machines.
This approach emerged on the field of artificial swarm intelligence, as well as the biological studies of insects, ants and other fields in nature, where swarm behaviour occurs. The swarm behaviour involves constant change of individuals in cooperation with others, as well as the behaviour of the whole group.  A key-component is the communication between the members of the group that build a system of constant feedback. The model of distributed computing — using many computers to work on a single large task — is somewhat similar. Unlike distributed computing, however, each individual in swarm robotics deals with unique stimuli.
Potential applications for swarm robotics include tasks that demand for miniaturization (nanorobotics, microbotics), like distributed sensing tasks in micro machinery or the human body. On the other hand swarm robotics can be suited to tasks that demand cheap designs, for instance mining tasks or agricultural foraging tasks.
What we deal in the workshop are:
    Artificial intelligence
    Short and long range wireless communication
    Sensor network
    Mechanical structure analysis and design
    Making a line follower robot and grid solving robot
    Communicating a robot with a PC, through radio frequency
    Implementation of swarm intelligence
Students can participate as a team of three and each team will be provided with a takeaway robo kit. The students will have to pay a registration fee of Rs 1400 per head. We will be providing an advanced Swarm Robotics Kit for each team and you can take away the kit after workshop.
Duration:
The workshop is for 2 consecutive days, 28th and 29th of January, 2011.
Accommodation:
Accommodation is available for ladies and gents in hostels run by catholic nuns and priests on prior re    quest.

Sachin celebrates his 50th Test ton

Posted by sebin | Posted in uncategorized | Posted on 20-12-2010

Indian batting maestro Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar on Sunday became the first batsman to score a monumental 50 centuries in the 133-year history of test cricket. No other batsman has scored more than 39 Test centuries.
The little master reached the coveted landmark when he completed his ton on the fourth day of the first Test against South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion
It was a century that the entire nation was eagerly awaiting from Sachin Tendulkar. The moment Sachin found a gap through the extra cover region to push a Dale Steyn delivery for a single, the entire stadium stood up to salute one of the true legends of the game.
The century should rank among one of the best considering the amount of pressure Indian team are in after being all out for a paltry 136 in the first innings.
Incidentally, it was the same opponents South Africa against whom he scored the first ever double hundred by a player in ODIs at Gwalior earlier this year.

The master batsman, enjoying a memorable year at age 37, has amassed more than 1,500 runs in thirteen Tests this year at an amazing average of more than 85 runs per innings.
However, one can’t run away from the fact that Sachin, in fact, is the ‘Record Man’ of cricket with almost every run-making record having his name inscribed on it. To add to that series, here is a list of some interesting records related to Sachin’s Test tons.

 - Most 100s against an opponent: 11 v Australia.

 - Most 100s in a calendar year: 7 in 2010.

 - Most 100s on a ground: 5 at Chepauk (Chennai).

 - Most 100s in a country: 22 in India (the most he has scored outside India is 6 in Australia).

 - Most 100s on a particular position: 43 at number 4 (he has hit 5 at No. 5 and 2 at No. 6).

 - Most 100s under a captain: 15 under Mohammad Azharuddin (in 47 matches).

 - Result-wise summary of 100s: 20 in matches won, 19 in matches drawn and 10 in matches lost.

- Break-up of 100s at home and abroad : 22 at home, 28 abroad.

- Innings-wise break-up of Tendulkar’s 100s: 20 in first innings of match, 17 in second innings of match, 10 in third innings of match and 3 in fourth innings of match.

A MUST SEE…..

I was always told that dreams is something thats only yours..no one can take that from you….maybe freedom but not ur dreams..Well defiling  all that is this movie..Everyone was constantly talking about this movie on how great its theme is..personally i thought it would be a geeky movie but since everyone was so into it i finally took the pain to get a print(it  was a bad one too)all together i was sure that i would be wasting my time..but those nearly two hour were undescribable..when u see this movie all that goes through your thick skull is WOW,AWESOME..Seriously how creative can people get..this movie redefines the boundary for ones imagination..The director and  writer  Christopher Nolan  did an absolutely amazing piece for sure ..this one will be another feather to his hat of success. Now the acting was superbly done by the cast.. i personally am a good critic when it comes to movies but i found this so blemishless… I will not take the pleasure of ruining the thrill of this movie by telling its summary but only the honors of a small peak…like in the beginning i said its all about dreams..how important it is,how influential it becomes in ones life..and knowing this significance ..how to steal it..more importantly how a “seed of an idea” can change everything in ones life..Take my word this is one movie that will at some point of time make  you think why didn’t i think of that..

PS:Readers hav to take personal risks in seeing this movie at  this  high time to do the studying..but then again see it when you are worn out!!!

A teenager’s God given talent………

Life used to be so easy. Once upon a time, in a far away land,(before TV and the internet),
parents used to be so easy to scare. All you had to do was hide a couple of rats in your mother’s
kitchen or pretend to show a sudden interest in chainsaws and flame throwers. Gone are those
days. Now, Lots of parents read books on how to be parents ( and even if they don’t, they
know people who know other people who read parenting books.) So, basically, they know what
to expect, which means that rats and chainsaws and flame throwers will not make your parents
run for their lives.
This pretty much sucks, because, teenagers were practically brought upon this earth to
give their parents a scare or two. Well, If you can’t scare them,
annoy them . And since this is one of the many things we’re all very good at ( aside from eating
and sleeping and texting), I guess there’s nothing to complain about…… Here’s a few ways to be better sweeter children…..

  • Stealing pieces of chicken from your mother’s curry( using your bare fingers),
preferably when you have guests expected to arrive for lunch. Then lick your
fingers, smack your lips and say, “Mmmmm, nalla taste, mummy.”
  • Litter your bedroom floor with as much junk as you can. If you can’t see the floor,
then you’ve done this right. Then, just let your mom walk in. This may result in
your mom going, ‘Naasham!!! Worse than a pig.’ If her language derails into
something more along the lines of swearing, remember her exact words. You can
then use these same words when she decides to sign you up for m4marry.com
  • Avoid wearing fresh cloths. Parents and dirty cloths are like students and really
big textbooks. They just don’t go together.
  • Dripping dirt onto a clean floor, and then apologize, and then drip some more mud.
  • Sleep till noon, and then ask for some breakfast( by which time your mother
will have cleaned out the kitchen of the morning’s leftovers and was just getting
    ready to start making lunch).
  • Take out the TV remote’s battery, and hide them separately.( If they find one,
they’ll still have to find the other.)
  • Talking with your mouth full of food, saying stuff like, “Mmmhaaa mmmooomm,
    jushja poooyee. Kayshto?”

These will drive your mom crazy, especially if you do it every once in a while. Fathers,
on the other hand, are a bit harder to crack. I myself have not yet gotten far with annoying my
Dad, preferably for my own safety. ( He would have ordered his own set of flame throwers and
chainsaws, and chased me down the street, laughing from behind me like a crazy maniac. But
that’s just my Dad. You’re free to try this stuff with your own parents, all at your own risk, might
I add.)
Expecting you all to be very nice children,
T.I. Ink.

NOTE: Again, let me remind you, that all actions are to be taken at your own risk. These facts
may get you in trouble. If you’re parents  make you stand in a dung heap  until you learn to
behave yourself, don’t point your fingers at me.

Last Minute Rush – Exploitation by Flower Vendors…..

Posted by baadshah | Posted in uncategorized | Posted on 24-08-2010

‘Demand went up and supply went down’ that is the reason raised by the flower vendors of kanjirappally, mundakayam and ponkunnam as they hiked the price of many flowers even upto 150%. For the first time the value of gold became nothing before the value of flower. And all went in vain when the 2 hour long competition for the best ‘athappokkalam’ got over.

Please stop exploiting college students

As the entire event was programme was coordinated in the midst of series exams, many batches didn’t get enough time to plan well. This made a last minute buying of the items. The famous “bandhi”,”jamanthi”,”arali”,”aster” etc  were in great demand and a difference of 1 day to make the order made a the difference of hundreds in the actual cost. And they say “this is economics”…

Well there shall be a limit for exploiting the future of india. After all we are tomorrows hope. Almost 30 batches registered for the event and these teams solely depend on the stores in kanjirappally and mundakayam. Considering the fact that this is the only time they could take advantage, we should plan our events a bit early atleast next time
